Names that look the same are not always the same person

This is a case that I have been working on recently.  I finally got Support to change the record, but someone is messing around with Zopher's family.  More on that later.

There are two combined records both from Family Search for this individual.

Possible duplicates reveals only one individual, Salmon Gee Person identifier: KWJP-41C with 50 combined records.

On July 21, 2011 I sent the following e-mail to those contributors that were listed on the record at that time. Today the only Contributors that are listed on the record are as noted above. (Family Search)

This additional child was not present a couple of months ago when I looked at the record.
Date of birth is listed as 31 August 1794, the day that Esther Beckwith died. There is no death date noted for this person in the record.

All the ordinance work for this individual has been performed except the endowment which is reserved by Contact name: ChristensenGeraldineHope1 E-mail address:geri.christensen@gmail.com
Esther Gee, the third child of Zopher and Esther was born 6 of July 1794 in Lyme, New London Connecticut. 

It seems strange to have twin children born so far apart with no family record of the occurrence.

(This is the older sibling of the individual in question.)

(This is the same older sibling of the individual in question. Lysander Gee sealed Deborah Reed to his father Salmon in the Logan Temple 6 September 1888, ninety-eight years after her birth. Deobrah Reed was Lysander’s wife’s (Theresa Bowley) aunt. This was never a marriage in their lifetime.
I do not believe the individual Salomon Gee Person identifier: M5V7-8KM ever existed as a son of Zopher Gee and Esther Beckwith. There is no documentary evidence of this event.
Esther only had three children and not four. In comparing the dates of birth of Salomon to his supposed sister Esther, New Family Search records indicate that Esther was born 6 July 1794 and Salomon was born 31 July 1794, the day that Esther Gee died.
Where did the record come from? I think that perhaps someone combined a possible duplicate that was floating around in the NFS database, perhaps from extraction. It certainly did not come from someone familiar with the Gee family genealogy.
I would appreciate any enlightenment that you might be privy to.

On looking at the record in Family Tree Alice Colby Volkert removed the relationship of this individual to Zopher and Esther as parents on 21 July, 2012.

I would appreciate it if you would consider this information and then decide whether it would be better for DATA ADMINISTRATION to deal with this problem.

How many times does it take?

My wife and I are going on a cruise at the end of next month.  One of the places that we are going to visit is Scotland.  I looked in my database to find those ancestors that came form Scotland.  The Kerr family came to America from Scotland.  My database was incomplete, so I went to New Family Search to see if there was any information.  I looked at Robert Marion Kerr and saw that someone had again combined the records so that there is now a loop and William Jasper Kerr the grandson of William Jasper Kerr is again married to his grandmother (shocking, who would want to be married to his grandmother?).

I had already tackled this problem twice before and thought I had it resolved.  I wrote this up as an Adventure in New Family Search over a year ago.

I was disconcerted to say the least.  I again reopened the case in Family Search Support.  We will have to see what happens.  Stay tuned.

If at first you don't succeed Google it

I was looking for Ray Martindale, the brother of Roy who was killed in the fire in Garland. I did not find any information in my usual sources.  My wife, Alice, said "Have you tried Google?  I always try Google."  I admit that I did not try Google.  So taking my wife's advice, I did a search for Ray Martindale.  This is what  I found.

"Ray Martindale, age 64, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away at 10:00am, Monday, August 24, 2009 at his home in Bolivar, Missouri.

He was born October 31, 1944 in Burley, Idaho to Earl Martindale and Geneva Coleman Martindale.

Ray worked as a grounds keeper for the State Of Nevada, then worked for Aarons Automotive from 1992-2003.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jay Martindale, Roy Martindale and a sister, Iris Allen.

Ray is survived by two sisters, Veral Boehm of Texas, Linda Galow of Heyburn, Idaho, sister-in-law, Teresa Martindale of Twin Falls, Idaho, and very good friends, Richard & Dorothy Wales of Bolivar, Missouri.

Per Rays wishes he will be cremated. No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation services are under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri.

This gave me the married name of his sisters, Veral and Linda.

Knowing that he had died I looked in the Social Security Death Index and found him there as well.

Following Up

Yesterday I posted some information about some third cousins, the Martindales.  The mother was killed in a fire along with her son.  I thought that I would see if I could learn more about the incident and so today I called the newspaper in Tremonton to see if they would have any information about a fire in 1946 in Garland.  I gave the lady who answered the phone the particulars; names, and dates.  When I looked on my e-mail this afternoon, she had scanned in the article and e-mailed it to me as an attachment.  The link is below:

I was able to find two more children in the family and the exact marriage date for Earl and Geneva Martindale.

Since I am not in correspondence with any members of that family, I am curious to know if Earl remarried.  I did not find a record in the Western Marriage index on the BYUIdaho site, so I am hoping there will be information in Earl's Obituary.   They are looking that up for me.
